Crown Molding Modern Style: How to Add a Touch of Elegance to Your Home
If you're looking for a simple yet effective way to elevate the aesthetic of your home, then crown molding is a perfect option. Crown molding, also known as cornice molding, is an elegant touch that can add an extra level of sophistication to any room. In this article, we'll explore the modern style of crown molding and how it can be used to transform your home's interior design.
What is Crown Molding?
Crown molding is a type of trim that is used to add a decorative touch to the top of walls, cabinets, and ceilings. It is usually made of wood, but it can also be made from other materials like plaster or polyurethane. Crown molding is often used to create a visual transition between walls and ceilings, but it can also be used to add a touch of elegance to cabinetry, furniture, and doorways.
Traditional vs. Modern Crown Molding Styles
Traditional crown molding is typically ornate and highly detailed, featuring intricate patterns and designs. Modern crown molding, on the other hand, is characterized by clean lines and minimalistic design. It is often wider and flatter than traditional crown molding, making it a popular choice for contemporary and transitional homes.
Choosing the Right Material
When it comes to choosing the right material for your crown molding, there are a few options to consider. Wood is a popular choice for its natural beauty and durability, but it can be expensive and may require regular maintenance. Polyurethane and PVC are affordable and easy to install, but they lack the warmth and character of real wood. Plaster is another option that can add a touch of luxury, but it is more expensive and requires professional installation.
